Meet Lorna Blair

Sarah Reuangrith Crafting Doing what love Interview Meet Supplier

I'm very excited to introduce you to Lorna Blair, she is the talented individual behind LB Creations.

(Lorna pictured here with her husband Stuart)

If you have spent some time browsing around Thea-Bel, some of her work has likely caught your eye.  She is the one behind the burp cloths on the website as well as some of the beautiful cards (more amazing cards are coming).  Ever a crafter at heart, she is always creating something new and wonderful!

I had the pleasure of asking Lorna some questions in a quick interview.

First some background

I have known Lorna for almost my entire life.  When I was growing up, she lived down the street and I spent much of my childhood hanging out at their house. Her two kids are just a bit younger than my brother and me and we hung out all the time. In fact Lorna is very much a second mother to me.  Ever since I can remember Lorna has been creating amazing things so it comes as no surprise to me that she is still busy as ever.

Onto the interview, I hope you enjoy:

What drew you to create cards, burp clothes or any of the other creations you make?

I make what catches my attention, I love making new things so if I see something I like I will often try to make my version of it.  For cards I am in a cult (ha ha) as my niece sells Stamping Up so I meet up every month to make more.  As I need to purchase product, I get a lot of new stuff which in turn means more cool things I make.  These meetings are great as not only are they a lot of fun but they force me to put time aside to create cards.  Plus making cards is a lot of fun!

How long have you been making cards?

Forever!  I can't remember exactly when I starting making them but I know it has been over ten years.

How do you design your cards?

I browse around online to get some idea's.  If I type in the stamp set I have there is often lots of examples of items that other people have created using the same supplies.  I get inspiration and then there is a lot of trial and error.  On average it takes about an hour to come up with a design I am happy with.

Any big plans for new items?

Yes, I have made some wedding cards, baby cards, kids birthday cards, baby strip rag quilts and water bottle carriers which should be showing up on Thea-Bel soon.

What do you hope people get from your cards?

I hope they get value and enjoyment.

Do you have a favorite item that you have created?

Yes I sure do.  A few years back I created a jewelry tree using family heirlooms from both sides of the family as well as some of my own keepsakes such as a brownie pin.  I think it turned out really well.  It will be passed to my daughter.

What prompted you to join Thea-Bel?

You [as in me, Sarah Reuangrith]!  And also to feed my addiction.  I enjoy making the cards but there are only so many you can give away to family and friends.  Thea-Bel gives me an outlet so that I can make as many as I want and know they will go somewhere.

Is there anything else you want people to know?

I make cards for my enjoyment, I am on the go all the time so making cards when I have time is a pleasure.

Is there anywhere besides Thea-Bel that someone can get your items?

My Niece owns a store in Delburne so you can get some of my items there.  I also sell some to a realtor I know who gives them away to new home owners.

Well there you go, I hope you enjoyed our short interview.  If you would like to see some of Lorna's work you can do so here.  New items will be coming soon so check back.

You can also get some of LB Creation's Burp cloths this month for free with a $50 order.  This is while supplies last and only until the end of the month.
