This month our theme is getting ready for the holidays, I hope you enjoy my tips. Please also share in the comments your best tips for getting holiday ready.
Starting early is your key to a stress free holiday. There are so many special events that are happening that give you extra opportunity to shop but you can only take advantage of them if you know who you are shopping for. So write out that list early and then the next time you are invited to a home shopping party or have to order something from Amazon (or Thea-Bel) you can knock people off your list at the same time and avoid panicking later.
I don't know how many times I have had a great gift idea but then completely forgot what it was. This year I have been ordering gifts as soon as I think of them and I have to say my Christmas shopping so far as been super easy. Not only can I feel really good about the items I have purchased, but they are also wrapped and ready to put under the tree, no more frantic Christmas eve wrapping for me this year.
I love entertaining but the state of my house is often in a less than desirable hosting condition... I have tried lots of different cleaning plans but have found the most effective one is to simply invite someone over. This doesn't have to be a big event, simply a friend coming for a visit. It is amazing how fast I can get the cleaning done. Heading into the holidays, if I invite someone over each week by the time Christmas roles around my house is in great shape. So get that calendar out and extend those invites. If you haven't had a chance, check out my Crisis Cleaning video for additional tips on how to get your house ready fast!
Every have one of those awkward moments where someone brings you a gift and you don't have anything for them? What about the times you are running out the door and realize that you don't have a host gift? Or what about that time you forgot to get your kids teacher a gift? Prevent these moments from happening with this simple trick, purchase an extra gift and have it wrapped and ready to go. No longer will you be running out to the store last minute! Not sure what to put inside the bag? Let me know you need some help and I would be happy to make some recommendations. I like things such as soaps, tea, holiday decorations, edibles or a gift card to somewhere like Tim Hortons.
